You Won’t Believe Trump’s Stance on Torture!

Trump speaks, enraging many

Donald Trump spoke out again, this time in favor of war crimes and torture.

He spoke about waterboarding, and that its “peanuts'” compared to what they (the enemy) are doing. That may be true, but we are a society with rules and limits, and that is what separates us from them.

Torture is not uncommon, and a 2014 report by Amnesty International, found evidence of torture or other ill-treatment in 82% of the 160 countries that they investigated. Syria is among these countries, and Globalo had the opportunity to interview a survivor from a Syrian torture facility.

The CIA released a report on interrogation tactics in 2014, and over 6,000 pages of the report were redacted. The fact that there were even more than 6,000 pages in total tells you that the United States has a long a d dark history with torture, spanning more than just Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay detention center.

According to the same report, these Enhanced Interrogation techniques conducted in covert interrogation centers yielded very little actionable information, and the project is widely seen as a failure and improper intelligence gathering.

However, other nations have done far worse to people, and Donald Trump would like us to become more like them and start ‘interrogating people with waterboarding “or worse”.

And, hours ago, the CIA director John Brennan stated that he would resign if ordered to resume waterboarding, a clear mark the even the intelligence community thinks that trump’s stance is outrageous and unproductive
