5. Trump blamed Hillary for ISIS, Libya, Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Syrian Civil War, and the refugee crisis.

6. Trump’s “Action for America”: “Americanism, not globalism”

Put America first:

  1. Safety at home: neighborhoods, borders, and protection from terrorism

  3. Education: “ensure that all of our kids are treated equally, and protected equally”
  4. Gay Rights: Trump vows to “do everything in my power” to protect our LGBTQ citizens.

7. On Terrorism, Trump said we need to do three things:

  1. Best intelligence gathering
  2. Abandon “nation-building” and work with allies to destroy ISIS and “Islamic terrorism”
  3. Suspend immigration from nations “compromised by terrorism”

 

8. On NATO:

NATO was obsolete because it did not cover terrorism. NATO announced it would set up a new program, and Trump said it was a “step in the right direction”

This speech was very different from most acceptance speeches. Most focus on a positive future for the country, but Trump took the time to highlight the darkness that America faces today. But perhaps that is the point. Trump wants to paint a picture that America is shrouded in darkness, and Donald Trump is the person to lead us out of the darkness and into the light.
