There have been regular aggressive threats by atomic-crazy North Korea, to attack South Korea, Japan or even the U.S.
This time the target of the propaganda is New York.
North Korea’s state-managed television channel DPRK claimed that Pyongyang now owns “a hydrogen bomb that could wipe out New York City and annihilate everyone who lives there.”
Using information from nuclear scientist Cho Hyong Il, DPRK Today has reported:
“Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union. If this H-bomb were to be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile and fall on Manhattan in New York City, all the people there would be killed immediately and the city would burn down to ashes.”
According to report, North Korea witnessed an event which showcased the country’s military power, and as part of this, leader Kim Jong-un was filmed examining a silver sphere. It is alleged that this could be the dummy of a miniature nuclear warhead or a hydrogen bomb.
North Korea has recently made a series of rocket launches.
The medium-range Nodong missiles, launched just days ago off the east coast, flew about 800km (500 miles). The maximum range is 1,000km.
The Taepodong-2 can reach (only) Alaska with a range of 6,000km. New York is still out of the reach of crazy Kim.
U.S. President Obama signed an executive order freezing North Korean government property in the United States. It bans US exports to – or investment in – North Korea and also greatly expands powers to blacklist anyone, including non-Americans, dealing with North Korea.
North Korea now sentenced a US student to 15 years of hard labour. He had stolen a propaganda sign from a hotel.

Prior to this, in February 2016, North Korea’s state media claimed that the country had launched a satellite, for which it drew flak from the international community due to the lack of adherence of general satellite launch protocol. This was also projected as a move to prepare for long-range missile testing that could enable Korean leader Kim Jong-un to attack the U.S. with a nuclear missile. This resulted in the U.N. Security Council imposing strong sanctions against North Korea.
U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power has spoken sharply against North Korea’s nuclear activity. She said, “It cannot be business as usual after two successive North Korean acts that are hostile and illegal. What’s important is that the Security Council unites. China is a critical player … We are hopeful that China, like all council members, will see the grave threat to regional and international peace and security, see the importance of adopting tough, unprecedented measures, breaking new ground here, exceeding the expectations of Kim Jong Un.”
North Korea seems to be certain that the U.S. is plotting to overthrow its government, as it often blames Washington and Seoul of sending spies to take over its government to support the U.S.-assisted South Korean government to control the Korean Peninsula. It is no surprise that the People’s Republic is making a public show of its night, and its intent to attack the U.S. with nuclear weapons if the need arises. On the other hand, the U.S. and South Korea jointly organised eight weeks of military exercises, believe to be the largest such event.
