Good Bye George Michael!

Thank you for your great songs, which became part of our life, good emotions and feelings during many private events!

The super star and solo artist – famous for hits including Last Christmas, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Careless Whisper  – has sold more than 100 million albums.

He died aged only 53 at Christmas 2016.

Born as Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in London to Greek Cypriot parents he first achieved pop success with his school friend Ridgeley in the pop duo Wham!

They split up in 1986 and he went on to have a glittering solo career in which he collaborated with Elton John, Aretha Franklin and Queen, after the death of Freddie Mercury.

His last album, Symphonica, was released in 2014.

In a statement, the star’s publicist said:

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

Michael’s former Wham! band-mate wrote on Twitter that he was “heartbroken by the loss of my friend” who would be “4ever loved”.

Sir Elton John, another friend and collaborator, wrote on Instagram of his “deep shock” at the loss of “the kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist”.

Madonna wrote on Twitter: “Farewell my friend! Another great artist leaves us”.

Brian May, the Queen guitarist, said the news of Michael’s death was “beyond sad.”

LaToya Jackson said he had “an amazing gift”.

His most famous song Last Christmas was released December 3rd, 1984.

The video above was recorded in Sass Fee in Switzerland.

It was less a Christmas but a song of unfulfilled hidden love.

Most remember these words:

“Last Christmas, I gave you my heart. But the very next day, you gave it away. This year, to save me from tears, I’ll give it to someone special.”

Here is the full text:

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart

But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)

Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby do you recognize me?
Well it’s been a year, it doesn’t surprise me

I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying “I Love You” I meant it
Now I know what a fool I’ve been
But if you kissed me now I know you’d fool me again

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year,
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special
Special, someone, someone
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special

Who’ll give me something in return
I’ll give it to someone, hold my heart and watch it burn

I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special
I thought you were here to stay
How can love be for a day?
I thought you were someone special, gave you my heart

I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
You gave it away
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone
