A newscaster from Saudi Arabia stopped her regular broadcast to give a three minute long speech, urging her fellow Muslims to feel shame about the terrorist attacks perpetrated by their people.

In her speech, she calls for all Muslims to feel a responsibility for the actions of terrorist extremists, such as the attacks in Brussels and Paris.

Her logic is that, if the terrorists don’t represent Islam, then who does? Ordinary Muslims should take responsibility and feel shame for the actions of the terrorists who grew out of their homelands, who were born of their people. Then they, rather than the extremists, could be the proper representation of Islam, as they should be.

Nadine Al-Budair has called out her fellow Muslims before, in a February article in a daily newspaper in Kuwait.

In this article, she tells her fellow Muslims to stop blaming the West for their issues. She asks the readers to imagine if it were Christians who were blowing themselves up.

Her point is to make people question what their reactions would be if Christians tried to force their religion on Muslims. She thinks Muslims should be conscious of the way they react toward the West and be more understanding of their perspective, rather than condemning and blaming them. She urges Muslims to consider reform to address the terrorists, who are their problem which shouldn’t be blamed on the West.
