Their first appearance happened one month after their birth at the Giant Panda Pavilion in Macau, China on July 26. They were taken out of their incubators for the event to meet the public. On their special celebration day, the staff sang them “happy birthday” and brought them cute fake birthday cakes.

  • Their names are Dabao and Xiaobao, which mean “big treasure” and “little treasure.”
  • Dabao (big treasure) weighed 135 grams at birth, and the Xiaobao (little treasure) was just 53.8 grams and had to be fed by hand.

  • The cubs were born to two famous parents, Xinxin and Kaikai, who were able to breed which is very rare for pandas in captivity.
  • Their mother, Xinxin, was 9 years old at the time of their birth and was originally a gift to the city as a gift from the national government.
